The Faculty consists of eminent musicians and scholars of different musical backgrounds, covering a wide range of interests and research.
He began his career at the age of 12 in Cyprus when he conducted the opera “La Traviata” with soloists from Milan’s La Scala.
In his musical career, he performed as a piano soloist with many of the world’s greatest orchestras , such as The London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Philarmonia and others.
He has given a series of concert cycles dedicated to the 32 Piano Sonatas by Beethoven and the 21 Piano Sonatas by Schubert. He has performed as a piano soloist in many countries. His discography includes all the Piano Concertos by Brahms, Piano Concertos by Chopin and Rachmaninov, all of Debussy’s piano works, the 21 Piano Sonatas by Schubert and all of Mozart’s piano works.
Lately he is appearing as a piano soloist in China and Japan and is in the process of recording all of Beethoven’s piano works.

Pitsa Spyridaki began her career as a piano soloist but she then dedicated herself in piano teaching. She is among the best piano teachers in Cyprus and is widely respected in Cyprus and Europe. She has given numerous Masterclasses and seminars in Piano Teaching and Piano Interpretation. Throughout her teaching career, a large number of her students won competitions or awards in Europe and Cyprus.
She was awarded the International Grand Prix Leader in Prestige and Quality from Actualidad in Spain, Europe.
In 1995 she founded The Hellenic College of Music in which she serves as a Director.
In 2002 she founded ARTE Music Academy in which she serves as a Director and as Head of Course.
Dr. Anthi Agrotou
Assistant Academic Registar / Teacher of Music Therapy and Psychology of Music
She initially received a BA in Classical Greek (University of London), followed by studies in Music Therapy (University of Roehampton Surrey) and a doctorate in Music Therapy from the University of Sheffield, UK. She has been the representative of Cyprus at the European Music Therapy Confederation and a registered music therapy supervisor in the same organization. She has given lectures to European and World Music Therapy Conferences and has contributed research articles in Scientific books and international journals, including the International Dictionary of Music Therapy. She is on the Advisory editorial board of Approaches: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Music Therapy. She has lectured at the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium, at the University of Cyprus and now at the ARTE Music Academy. She has recently been appointed by the Ministry of Education and Culture as the Academic in charge of the preparation and organization of the written exams of music therapy applicants in the sector of Education.
Dr Anastasia Hasikou
Head of Academic Courses / Teacher of Academic Courses
Anastasia Hasikou holds a Ph.D in Music from City, University of London, where was awarded the Newby Trust award. She has published in Sage Encyclopedia of Music and Culture as well as the Athens Journal of Humanities and Arts. She is also a contributor in the book Music in Cyprus edited by Jim Samson and Nicoletta Demetriou. She has lectured on a wide range of topics such as Sociology of Music, Ethnomusicology, Traditional Music and Music Pedagogy. She is also fellow of “The Higher Education Academy UK”. From 2009 she is an adjunct lecturer at ARTE Music Academy in Nicosia.
Dr. Christodoulos Vasilliades
Christodoulos Vassiliades holds a PhD in Theology and he is a doctoral candidate in musicology. He has studied at ARTE Music Academy, as well as at the postgraduate course at Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv. He has also attended piano lessons at Morley College of London. He has diploma in odiki, piano, byzantine music, harmony, counterpoint, orchestration, fugue and traditional violin.
He is lecturer at ARTE Music Academy, byzantine music and higher theory at Hellenic Conservatory of Athens and byzantine music teacher at Rhodes conservatory Katy Kastrouni
Dr Ayis Ioannides
Conductor and composer Ayis Ioannides first obtained a doctorate in neurobiology before studying music at the UK (Guildhall School of Music) and extending his professional training at the British National Opera Studio and at master classes in Austria, The Netherlands and Germany. For ten years he was on the conducting staff of German opera houses. He continued as Chief Conductor of the Vaasa City Orchestra in Finland and of the Cyprus orchestras and has been artistic adviser to the international Pafos Aphrodite Opera Festival.He has written works for orchestra, choir, voice, piano and chamber music ensembles, many of which have been performed in several European countries as well as in Russia and the U.S.A.
Dr Rami Sarieddine
Rami Sarieddine holds a Ph.D. from the Thornton School of Music, University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He has also studied at the New England Conservatory in Boston and at the Royal Academy of Music in London where he has obtained undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.He has held the position of Head Piano Fellow at the Bard College Conservatory of Music in New York as well as teaching positions in Los Angeles, Abu Dhabi and New York City as well as at the Central Conservatory Prep School in Beijing.In 2019, he founded the (duo +) Chimera with longtime collaborator, singer (bass) Andrew Robert Munn. Together they present recitals in various cities around the world, with most recent performances in Abu Dhabi, Athens, Berlin, Nicosia and Paris.An ardent supporter of 20th / 21st century music, Rami Sarieddine has performed new works at premieres of the composers such as Andis Skordis, Conrad Winslow, James Primosch, Nina C. Young. He has also collaborated with composers such as Mark Carlson, Libby Larsen, Steve Reich and Frederich Rzewski. Most recently he worked as a repetiteur for Andis Skordis’s opera, Argos Sidiros.
She is a French musician from Paris where she studied Flute and Piccolo. She graduated from the Conservatoire de Paris where she had the opportunity to to meet imaginative players from different countries and to play in many chamber music concerts in France and abroad. She has always been interested in being a member of an orchestra since the age of 16. She played in various French orchestras as a freelancer and this led to the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra being heard in 2005 as a vice principal flute and has since held this position. She teaches flute at ARTE Music Academy and is also the founder of Wind Quintet “Evohé” and an active member of the Contemporary Chronos Ensemble.
Loizos S. Loizou
Loizos S. Loizou is a graduate of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest in the Department of Choir Conducting (BA and MA) with professors Parkai Istvan and Erdei Peter, as well as in the field of Theoretical – Music Pedagogy (M.A.) specializing in the Kodály method with Professor Urgin Gábor.He has taught at all levels of music education in Hungary and he has been the conductor of the Swedish community choir in Budapest.He has collaborated repeatedly with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, in concerts such as “Makarios o Nyn kai Aei” by G. Kotsonis, “Tribute to Mozart”, “Cavalleria Rusticnana” by P. Mascagni and “Messiah” by F. Hendel. Since 2009 is the conductor of the Choir of the Music Lyceum of Nicosia. He also gave seminars about choir from the Pedagogical Institute for Primary and Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture. In addition, he participated as a speaker in a seminar of the Department of Arts of the European University of Cyprus on “Choir Conducting”. Since 2018 he has been working at the University of Nicosia and is the conductor of his choir and since 2019, he is the conductor of the SympoΠedia (children’s choir) program of the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Sorin Alexandru Horlea
He started the violin at the age of eight. He graduated from Ciprian Porumbescu Music University where his Professor was maestro Daniel Podlovschi. During his university studies he played in several orchestras, but mainly in George Enescu Philharmonic. In 2000 he moved to Lebanon where he became the assistant concert master in the Lebanese National Symphony Orchestra. He moved to Cyprus in 2005 and since then is a member of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. He is also working as an associate teacher of the Cyprus Youth Orchestra. Alongside his output as an orchestral musician, he is an active performer as a soloist and in various chamber groups. He has been teaching in Arte Music Academy since 2017.
Classical and opera singing educator with over 30 years of teaching and performance history.
Svetlana Krasnova received her initial music training in Russia –Shebalin Music College (choir conducting) and L. Sobinov State Conservatory (opera singer and an opera singing teacher, class of Sergey Aleksashkin). Her early years include performances with the Omsk Opera Theater, collaborations with Saratov Philharmonic, Belorussian Philharmonic and later with Canadian Century Opera and various TV and Radio appearances in Canada, as well as various international competitions (Brazil, Canada, and Belorussia) and performances throughout Russia, Belorussia, Europe and North and South America with a wide variety of repertoire. With this, Mrs.Krasnova ‘s intention was always to teach. As an international educator (for over 30 years) she is working on helping her students achieving high goals, independency skills and advancement opportunities in the field. The last decade and a half Mrs. Krasnova is a professor at ARTE MUSIC ACADEMY.
Head of Jazz Department / Teacher
Giorgos Krasidis (born April 10, 1970 in Limassol, Cyprus). Saxophonist/clarinettist, composer, conductor and educator. Krasidis studied at Berklee college of Music, (tenor saxophone jazz performance) and at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, (Classical Saxophone Performance) and graduated Summa cum Laude. Krasidis is the founder of Jazzologia Cyprus Big Band and nicipality Philharmonic Band. Krasidis shared the stage both as a performer and educator with jazz leading figures, including Dr Gene Aitken, Dave Glenn, Damian Erskine, Denny J. Eupraset, J. Kyle Gregory, Alex Sipiagin and many others. As an educator he teaches saxophone and the jazz idiom at the ARTE Music Academy in Nicosia, Cyprus and at the Cyprus Government Music Schools.

After graduating from the Hellenic Conservatory continued her studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She was awarded the AGSM Diploma in Piano Performance and Teaching. Subsequently, she was awarded a scholarship by the Royal Schools of Music to follow an advanced music course at the Royal Academy of Music and the Associated Board. She is also a holder of the LRSM Diploma in Teaching.She attended and participated in many festivals and music conferences οn piano performance and pedagogy in England, Austria and Italy. She performed in masterclasses of distinguished pianists and piano teachers.She performed on Cyprus TV and radio, participated in many music events and gave recitals in Cyprus and London. For several years she played in various chamber music groups. Christiana teaches Piano, Musical Perception, Instrumental Pedagogy and Theory of Music.

He graduated (with Honors) the State conservatory Of St. Petersburg from the class of Boris Ivanovich Tishshenko, favorite student of D.D. Schostakovich .
Since 2003 teaches at ARTE Music Academy at the department of composition and instrumentation.
His output includes over 50 opus, among them, symphonic music, concertos for violin, piano, two operas, chamber music, vocal and choir music, music for theatre, film music and electronic music. Works by him were premiered by Theodoros Currentzis, Sir Neville Mariner,,Collaborated with Yuri Bashmet, MusicAeterna, MCMA ensemble , Niew ensemble, Tana Quantor, Phaos ensemble, Pharos string Orchestra, New vocalists stuttgart, Cyprus Symphonic orchestra etc. Since 2011 serves the Centre of Cypriot Composers from the position of Vice President.
For the last 2 years he is collaborating with the MusicaAeterna Orchestra and the Conductor Theodor Kouretzis.
He studied at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, in Paris and London.He is a laureate of international competitions, including 1st Prize at the Music Festival (Palermo, Italy), 2nd Prize at the Thimis Piano Competition (Megaron Mousikis, Thessaloniki) and others. This year he performed in Zurich, Munich and Cyprus. He has published two personal albums – The Greek song through a piano and From Tsaikovsky to Hatzidakis. He teaches piano at the Music School, the European University of Cyprus and ARTE Music Academy.
He studied percussion at the Athens Conservatory (class of D. Marinakis) and at the Hochschule für Musik Köln with C. Caskel and C. Tarcha and graduated with “Auszeichnung”.
Marios has been a holder of the “Alexandra Trianti” scholarship of the “Friends of music Society” (Athens). Since 2015 Marios is the principal Timpanist of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. As a soloist has performed the Concertino for Timpani, Percussion and Strings by A. Panufnik, the Concerto for Percussion and small Orchestra by D. Milhaud, N. Skalkota’s ” Characteristic Piece” for Xylophone and orchestra and the Partita in C major by G. Druschetzky. He has also collaborated with most of the Greek orchestras. Since 2009 he is a member of the Ergon Ensemble (Athens). He is teaching Percussion at ARTE Music Academy and at the music Lyceums of Nicosia and Limassol. Since 2017 is Marios Nicolaou is a Marimba One artist.
He started his music education with lessons in violin, piano and theory. He continued his studies at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music’s School of Instrument Making in Budapest with a degree in Keyboard Instrument Making and then attended technical training seminars in Europe and the United States, with most important C.F. Theodore Steinway Academy in Hamburg and New York. Konstantinos Loizou works as a piano technician in universities, artistic organizations and institutions, theaters, recording studios, etc. He quickly became a permanent collaborator of the most important cultural organizations of Cyprus, such as the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra (CYSO), Pharos Arts Foundation, Ledra Soloist etc. He is the main piano technician at the Municipal Theaters of Nicosia, Strovolos and Larnaca, Pallas Cinema, Shoe Factory, etc. He has collaborated with distinguished artists such as Grigory Sokolov, Martha Argerich, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Yuja Wang, Dmitri Bashkirov, Laki Babayan, Sergei Babayan the Cypriots Martinos Tirimos, Kyprianos Katsaris, Marios Papadopoulos and others with whom he has been invited to cooperate over timeIn 2017 and 2018, by invitation, he took over as the main piano technician of the pianos at the 1st and 2nd International Piano Competition in Vigo, Spain.He has beein invited on a Tv Show at Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation.He has given lectures about piano and harpsichord in places such as the University of Nicosia, the Academy of Music Arte etc.

She is a musicologist and a piano and theory of music teacher.
She studied Social Anthropology (BA in Social Anthropology) at The London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London. She received her master’s degree in music (MA Music) from Middlesex University, London. Furthermore, she received her Piano Teachers Degree from Hellenic Conservatory in Athens and her Harmony Degree from Hellenic College of Music in Cyprus.
Her field of academic interest and research focuses on the social aspects of music, feminist musicology and history of music with an emphasis on early music.

She took her master’s degree in Theatre Directing ( Opera & Musical) from East 15, University of Essex. She directed the opera ‘Cavalleria Rusticana’ produced by Cyprus Youth Orchestra and the musicals for young audience “Gourouniasmata 1,2,3” (Gourouniasmata 2 won the Cyprus Theatre Award for best performance for young audience)produced by Silver Spot Light as well as a play for young audience at the National Theatre (Thoc). She has worked as assistant director with Evis Gavrielides both at the National Theatre of Cyprus and at “Theatro Technis” in Athens. She is as well a co-writer of the musicals “Gourouniasmata1, 2,3” with Alex Panagi, Katerina Christofidou and Stavros Stavrou and wrote theatre plays with “Istos” theatre group based on devised theatre She is teaching Song and Stage Performance at ARTE Music Academy
Vasiliki Anastasiou graduated from London College of music with a BMus and a MMus in music performance both with distinction. In 2016 she received a cultural award by the Youth Board of Cyprus and in 2010 a silver medal by the Worshipful Company of musicians of London. In 2010 she received a full scholarship by the London College of Music to complete her master’s degree. She founded the Cyprus Voice Centre and the Amalgamation choir. Her most recent collaboration in theatre is a production by the Cyprus National Theatre of Richard III and in dance two productions of the program Terpsihori. She has given concerts in France, Germany, Austria, Lebanon, Hong-Kong, United Kingdom, Cyprus and Greece.
Adriana Anitzanova Petala
Adriana Anitzanova Petala is a musician in the field of traditional, world and modern music scene, specialized in the musical instrument ‘ Nei’ and in singing. She is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Music Studies of the University of Ioannina. She studied at the Department of Music Studies of the University of Ioannina, specializing in the Nei instrument, and continued her postgraduate studies at the Department of World Music of the University of Fine Arts (Codarts University) in Rotterdam (Master of Music Performance). as well as vocal. She teaches NEI and she gives Seminars in Greece and abroad. she has collaborated with renowned artists in Greece and abroad and has participated as a soloist in festivals in Greece and abroad. She collaborates with the music groups Argatia Ensemble and Loxandra Ensemble while she is a founding member of the music project Mordana
Ioannis Vafeas is a professional drummer. He studied Jazz music at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA and did his master’s degree in Jazz Studies at the Boston Conservatory. The years that followed found Ioannis busy in the music industry performing, recording and teaching music. He performs regularly in major festivals, concert halls and prestigious jazz clubs all over the world. He attended festivals and Venues in Germany, Poland, England, Lebanon, Greece, Kuwait, Italy, the U.S, Serbia and shared the stage with great artists and Symphony Orchestras. He has numerous collaborations in cd’s, recordings and theatre productions. He is teaching drums in ARTE Music Academy.
He started music by playing the electric and acoustic guitar and later the electric bass. He studied in Rotterdam ‘s Conservatory with the great bass player Pieter Douma. has taken part in numerous jazz festivals in Germany, Rio de Janeiro, the Netherlands, Switzerland, etc. He has released CDs with his own compositions. He plays with local and foreign bands both in Cyprus and abroad. He teaches bass at ARTE Music Academy
Anita Tomasevic studied at the Novi Sad Music Academy, Royal Conservatoire Den Hague.She studied with famous teachers such as Jagor Chugayev (Y. Milstein’s student), Svetlana Bogino (L. Oborin’s student) and Vladimir Orgakov (E. Gilies’s student), Marcel Boudet, Ellen Corver, Yelena Richter, Lazar Berman, Gyorgy Sandor (student of Bella Bartok) and with Stefan Vladar.She appeared all over Europe starting with her first solo recital at the age of 10. Many other concerts followed in some of the biggest halls in the Netherlands, Spain, London, Italy, Russia and Serbia. He has won international competitions, including the 1st prize Citta di Tortona, Italy. In 2005 she released her first CD with works by Scarlatti, Chopin, Scriabin and Prokofiev. She is the founder and artistic director of the ‘Avaton Music Festival’ which has received international recognition.
Nikos Koukouvinos is a Trombonist.
He studied at the ARTE Music Academy from where he received his Degree and then continued his Master’s Degree at the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” – Sofia, Bulgaria where he specialized in performing classical trombone.
Since 2017 he has been a trombone teacher at the ARTE Music Academy and since 2018 he has been a trombone instructor at the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra and a professor at the Music Schools in Cyprus.
He has taken part in many concerts both with the orchestra and with many musical groups throughout Cyprus.
